How we help.
We send phone top-ups before, during, and after disaster so that people with disabilities have the best chance of survival and protection if they become refugees.
Empowering those most at risk to connect with the people and organisations best suited to help and support them.
A bottom-up, digital approach to the democratisation of humanitarian aid that maximises impact without the need for deployments or logistics.
-
Compassionate Donors
Thanks to people like you we’re able to provide individual grants directly to someone in need, ensuring resources reach those most in need.
Your support is life-changing. In times of great stress it offers connection and safety. In times of peace it empowers people with disabilities, with equal access to the opportunities of our digital era.
Crucially it removes barriers to aid, provides visibility, and protects some of the world’s most most discriminated people .

A Digital Response
When a disaster strikes, NGOs struggle to identify and include people with disabilities in their recovery efforts. We believe a technology-driven response is a vital first step for increasing the inclusiveness of aid.
Digital communication & information tools have the power to save and protect life without relying on expensive and slow logistical deployments.
During the chaos and pressure of a crisis, digital technologies allow us a rapid, effective response to individual calls for assistance.
-
Global Support
In our age of increased connectivity, it’s possible to provide assistance wherever there’s a mobile phone connection.
We support & empower people with disabilities in over 150 countries with reliable information in accessible formats and advice on how to connect to NGOs with the resources they need.
By sending electronic top-up grants directly to individual phones we’re focused on the democratization of humanitarian aid from the bottom up.
-
Visibility & Protection
The ability to call for help saves lives.
Men, women, and children with disabilities face human rights violations and systemic discrimination in everyday life, during disaster they’re “invisible” to humanitarian efforts.
We believe that an independent digital voice enables them to demand the right to receive humanitarian assistance, protection and security, and their right to live in dignity.
Digital access is the most enabling tool for someone with a disability, a vital means of social inclusion during peace and refuge throughout a crisis.
-
Validation Checks
We employ a variety of anti-fraud technologies and techniques to confirm the eligibility of applicants, ensuring that to the best of our ability each donation reaches someone with a disability in need.
Each application is handled individually and prioritised dependent on the circumstances and needs of the applicant. Using online Artificial-Intelligence tools we’re able to verify the legitimacy of over 3,500 types of identity documents from around the world as well as supporting evidence such as personal GPS location.
We’re able to check the IMEI serial number of each device against databases maintained ourselves and by mobile network operators to confirm their authenticity and area of operation.
Our primary goal is to safeguard genuine applicants by helping them connect with UNHCR or NGO partners who are able to support them and further confirm eligibility.
-
Spreading The Love
Sending mobile top-ups directly to the phones of qualifying applicants is quick and efficient using online tools.
We’re able to sending grants to over 150 countries as soon as the validation and prioritisation process is completed.
Supporting refugees and migrants with a disability throughout their journey to safety and stability is a long term commitment to help each and every month.
We maintain a relationship with beneficiaries and cater grants to their needs. For instance, someone who is visually impaired or blind may need to use network dependent apps like BeMyEyes that require more data.
Beyond emergency response and disaster risk reduction, access to digital educational and vocational opportunities are a fundamental requirement for recovery opportunities in post-disaster situations.
Your donation enables people with disabilities to live with the safety and economic security they deserve but are too often denied.

Data Driven Change
Few emergency preparation or response plans seriously consider the needs of people with disabilities. They are consistently among the last to receive help.
Change in the provision of aid and support for people with disabilities cannot happen until the barriers they face at every stage of a disaster are properly understood.
Through collaborative data collection and analysis we aim to learn more about how to improve the support provided to a particularly vulnerable population before, during, and after disaster.
Questions developed by the The Washington Group are central in these efforts and are being used in national surveys and censuses throughout the world.
This anonymised data, gathered from first-hand information, allows evacuees, refugees, and survival-migrants with a disability to be active change agents advising NGOs on methods to raise disability specific participation.
Creating awareness of barriers is the genesis of change.
