It’s time to RETHINK the best way to help Refugees with a Disability.

Digital Inclusion & Disaster Preparedness

15-19% of the world’s population, more than a billion people, live with a disability. Each year over 52 million people with disabilities (PWD) are affected by conflicts and disasters.

Yet they are often the last to receive help, and the first to die. Many PWD live in virtual isolation and do not receive timely warnings of coming a crisis. They’re least able to evacuate or find shelter than non-disabled persons.

There’s a lack of contact between PWD threatened or impacted by disasters and the agencies with the specialist resources and devices to help due to The Digital Disability Gap in mobile internet usage.

If PWD can’t call for help, no one can answer or support them.

We want to close the mobile disability gap by providing free mobile top-ups to people with disabilities around the world so they can call for help.

The Problem

In our digital era people with disabilities (PWD) are at unnecessary risk when crisis strikes due to lack of accessible information. Due to various social and economic factors PWD have fewer resources including access to mobile phones and the internet. They do not receive early or adequate advice on actions to take before a crisis, and are often unable to evacuate or shelter. They’re excluded from humanitarian responses because agencies can not find them.
In conflict and disaster situations, PWD are among the last to receive help and the first to die.

DONATE A TOP-UP

In our digital world, access to a phone and network data is essential not just for personal safety but to enable assistive technology apps like sign-language translation or seeing-eye apps for visually impaired users.

Providing free phone/data access lessens risks the to people with disabilities before a disaster, and connects them to protection and support services after.

We send mobile top-ups directly to the phones of people with disabilities around the world so they have equal access to information and humanitarian aid.

Our Solution

Sending mobile top-up credits directly to the phones of people with disabilities (PWD) maximises our impact with an immediate and positive impact both on individuals and the programs designed to support them by closing the digital void between the two.
This solution minimises our operating costs, with no demand for the complicated logistics and distribution of aid. It allows NGOs to identify and locate those at heightened risk or requiring specialist support before, during, and after a crisis. It makes humanitarian aid more inclusive and accessible to all.
